Mumbai, Oct 29: Bollywood trade pundits reported that Shah Rukh Khan's ambitious film Ra.One failed to beat Salman Khan's Bodyguard at the Box Offixe on Day One (Wednesday Oct 26 Diwali).
Ra.One's net collections on Oct 26 stood at Rs 14.7 crore as compared to Bodyguards Rs 21 crore.
Trade experts explained that most of the households were busy in celebrating Diwali in northern India particularly in UP, Bihar, Punjab and Rajasthan and were unwilling to go to theatres to watch Ra.One.
On Thursday, Day 2, Ra.One collections in India witnessed a jump of 50 to 60 per cent, while in the North it registered of nearly 90 to 100 per cent.
The producers of Ra.One are keeping their fingers crossed for this weekend's collections when people come out to watch new movies in theatres.
So far the top 5 all time Opening Day collections have been:
Bodyguard - Rs 21 cr,
Ra.One - Rs 14.7 cr
Dabangg - Rs 14.5 cr
3 Idiots - Rs 13 cr
Ready - Rs 13 cr
The Tamil and Telugu versions of Ra.One (dubbed) could add another couple of million to the kitty.
