Mumbai, Dec 6: Actor Tusshar Kapoor, who has been on a successful sail with multi-starrers is in no mood to give up his desire for a solo hit as he feels its a requisite to prove your worth and become a star.

“I want to do solo films. In this industry no matter how popular you are if you don't have a solo hit..the proof of being a star is not there. You have to prove it to the industry. Even though you are capable of giving hit films but you have to deliver a solo hit,” Tusshar told PTI in an interview.

Tusshar started his career in Bollywood with Satish Kaushik directed ‘Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai' in 2001.

Despite the movie being a hit at the box office Tusshar could not find much success in his other solo releases.

His next film was Vashu Bhagnani's ‘Jeena Sirf Merre Liye' (2002) opposite Kareena.

The film failed at the box office.

Then came up sister Ekta Kapoor's ‘Kucch To Hai' a horror film opposite Esha Deol which was again a failure, another 2003 film, ‘Yeh Dil' opposite Anita Hassanandani, proved to be one of the biggest disasters of the year.

“My first film was a solo - ‘Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai' and that was a hit but then there were a few flop films. I have not had a solo hit for quite some time. I am aiming for a solo hit and luckily I am getting opportunities. I did have offer for solo films - the one film with Rajshri banners - ‘Love You Mr Kalakar' but it did not work for me,” Tusshar said.

“I am not giving up on solo films. Multi starrers are keeping me safe. They are also risky but I feel I am fortunate enough to be part of very good big multi starrers. A solo film is must...it is something I will not give up,” he said.

Tusshar struck gold with multi-starrers when in Raj Kumar Santoshi's ‘Khakee' he got an opportunity to rub shoulders with stalwarts like Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar. He was appreciated for his performance in the film.

Then came Rohit Shetty's ‘Golmaal' (2006-2010) series that made Tusshar's on screen character ‘Lucky', a household name. Other multi starrer films that did well for him were ‘Kyaa Kool Hai Hum' (2005) and Sanjay Gupta's ‘Shootout at Lokhandwala'.

His recent releases again were multi starrers - ‘Shor in the City' and ‘The Dirty Picture'.

The 35-year-old would be seen next in Samir Karnik's ‘Char Din Ki Chandni', a solo film opposite Kulraj Randhawa of ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana'. The film releases in January 2012.

“With ‘Char Din Ki Chandani', an out-an-out comedy I have hopes on the film. I am fine doing solo films of any genre. The script should be masala, entertaining and backed by good production house as they know how to make and promote a film,” Tusshar said.

Tusshar has completed ten years in the Hindi film industry. Ask him how the journey has shaped up, and he says, “There have been ups and down. I have learnt from every experience. I think I couldn't have done better. I cherish my journey in the industry till date. Whatever I have achieved I am happy but not satisfied. I feel I have miles to go.”

“I am grateful to be part of blockbuster movies. I have done wide range of roles, shown my versatility and not stuck to any particular genre. Despite my hits and flops I never had to struggle for getting films. I may not be number a one star or a Rs 20 crore actor. But I always had a three-four films and I never had to get worried about work,” he added.
