New Delhi: For all those who aspire to be a Bollywood actor, there's a lot you can learn from Boman Irani. At an age when most Bollywood actors eye a retirement from the industry, Boman entered it.

Boman, is emotional, loyal and cuddly, who can cry possibly watching even Tom and Jerry. He started his life as a waiter, went on to become a photographer, did theatre and finally made his debut in Bollywood at the age of 44 with Raju Hirani's Munna Bhai M.B.B.S.

With time and diligence, Boman who is turning 56 today became an integral part of Bollywood. He is looked upon as those actors who breathe life to the characters they essay. While most of the roles he has done have been loved dearly by the audiences, on his birthday today we bring to you 5 characters which no one other than him could have pulled off.

1. Dr. Asthana from Munnabhai M.B.B.S.:

This Rajkumar Hirani directorial was Boman's shot to fame, one which lasted long. Everything about this movie was impeccable, but Boman surely stole the show. 2. Lucky Singh from Lage Raho Munnabhai:

If Munnabhai was hilarious, Lage Raho Munnabhai surpassed the mark set by it. Boman, too grew as an actor. From a strict medical college dean to a turban clad gangster, Boman was the one who made everyone laugh their lungs out while watching the movie. His obsession of photoshopping his pictures with favourite celebs was also one of the attractions of his character. Boman earned the Filmfare nomination for best villain for this role.

3. DCP DeSilva / Vardhaan from Don- The Chase Begins:

If Boman's villainous character in Lage Raho Munnabhai had a tinge of humour in it, the one in Don had loads of cruelty. He revamped his earlier image and came out as someone who can move beyond comic roles. His duel with superstar Shah Rukh Khan during the climax is still etched in the memories of the fans.
