Matt Damon lauds Akshay Kumar for highlighting open defecation issue in Toilet: Ek Prem Katha

Actor Akshay Kumar’s Toilet: Ek Prem Katha received great response from movie buffs and it entered the coveted Rs 100 crore club. Many prominent faces of the industry heaped praises on the actor for coming up with a project with an innovative subject and the latest one to join the bandwagon is Hollywood star Matt Damon. The latter’s non-profit organisation, Water.org has been addressing the issue of open defecation for the last few years.

In an exclusive conversation with a leading daily, Matts stated that it is great that actors like Akshay are spotlighting the open defecation crisis with his films and this will not only create awareness but will also help to bring the change. The actor went on to say that the open defecation affects the health and in order to reach the full potential, a person should have clean drinking water and the dignity of a toilet.

The actor, who visited India in 2013 is looking forward to visiting the country again.

On a related note, along with Akshay, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha also featured Bhumi Pednekar and Anupam Kher. The movie promotes PM Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. The actor will next be seen in R. Balki’s Padman alongside Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte.
