Patna:

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released the third and final list of 18 candidates on Wednesday (October 15).  With this announcement, the BJP has now finalised candidates for all 101 seats allotted to it under the NDA's seat-sharing arrangement for the Bihar Assembly elections. The party has fielded Satish Yadav from the high-profile Raghopur constituency against Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav. The Raghopur seat is considered one of the key battlegrounds in the polls, as Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of the Opposition, has held the seat since 2015.

The party has fielded Bina Devi from the Kochadhaman seat and Sangeeta Kumari from Mohania, which is reserved for the Scheduled Castes. Murari Paswan will join the fray from Pirpainti, an SC seat, while Ashok Kumar Singh will contest from the Ramgarh Assembly constituency.

Earlier in the day, the BJP released the second list of 12 candidates for the Bihar elections. Among the notable names is folk singer Maithili Thakur, who will contest from the Alinagar constituency a day after she joined the party. The party has also given a ticket to former IPS Anand Mishra from Buxar.

Prominent candidates in the BJP list

The first list included several notable names, like both Deputy Chief Ministers, Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha. Choudhary will contest from Tarapur, while Sinha will run from Lakhisarai.

Other prominent candidates are former Deputy Chief Ministers Renu Devi (Bettiah) and Tarkishore Prasad (Katihar), Mangal Pandey (Siwan), Nitish Mishra (Jhanjharpur), Neeraj Kumar Singh Bablu (Chhatapur), Vijay Kumar Mandal (Sikti), Sanjay Saraogi (Darbhanga), Rana Randhir Singh (Madhuban), Sunil Kumar Pintu (Sitamarhi), Ram Narayan Mandal (Banka), Krishna Kumar Rishi (Banmankhi), Nitin Nabin (Bankipur), Dr Prem Kumar (Gaya Town) and Siddharth Saurav (Bikram). Ram Kripal Yadav, a former Union Minister who lost the Lok Sabha election from the Patliputra constituency in 2024, has been fielded by the party from Danapur.

Women candidates in the BJP list

Apart from Renu Devi, Maithili Thakur, Bina Devi and Sangeeta Kumari, the BJP has announced the names of nine other women candidates, including Shreyasi Singh (Jamui), Aruna Devi (Warsaliganj), Rama Nishad (Aurai), Nisha Singh (Pranpur), Kavita Devi (Korha), Sweety Singh (Kishanganj), Chhoti Kumari (Chapra), Devanti Yadav (Narpatganj) and Gayatri Devi (Parihar).
