Ahmedabad, May 29: There was panic among local residents of Vatva GIDC area here on Monday night after oleum acid fumes began to leak from a broken tank valve.
The acid tanker kept inside a company premises developed problem in the tank valve, which was found broken, and fumes of oleum acid began to spread in the locality.
People complained of nausea and irritations in throat and eyes, as firemen were rushed in to control the situation.
Six truckloads of sand were thrown on the spilled acid, and the gas leak was brought under control after four hours.
