Naihati Assembly Polls 2026: Seat profile, past winners, margin and party-wise candidates

The Naihati Assembly constituency is one of the 294 constituencies in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly. It is constituency number 104 of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly. The constituency is a general seat not reserved for Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs). The All India Trinamool Congress (AITC), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Congress and the Left front are the main parties in the state. The Naihati Assembly constituency comes under the Barrackpore Lok Sabha constituency. 

In the 2021 assembly polls, Partha Bhowmick of the Trinamool Congress defeated Bharatiya Janata Party’s Falguni Patra by a margin of 18,855 votes. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Trinamool Congress candidate Partha Bhowmick won from the Barrackpore Lok Sabha with a margin of 64,438 votes by defeating Arjun Singh of the  Bharatiya Janata Party. 

Naihati Constituency Demographic Profile

The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in West Bengal is being implemented in accordance with the Election Commission of India's order before the West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026. The objective of an intensified revision is to ensure that the names of all eligible citizens are included in the Electoral Roll (ER) so as to enable them to exercise their franchise. The last intensive revision in West Bengal was conducted by the Commission in the year 2002. The Naihati Assembly constituency is a part of the North 24 Parganas district.

As per data from the Election Commission, there were 1,93,930 voters in the Naihati constituency during the 2021 Assembly Elections. Out of this, 97,094 were male and 96,830 were female voters. Six voters belonged to the third gender. 1545 postal votes were cast in the constituency. The number of service voters in Naihati in 2021 was 642 (612 men and 30 women). 

In 2016, the total number of voters in the Naihati constituency was 1,80,923. Out of this, 91,932 voters were male, 88,987 were female. Four voters belonged to a third gender. There were 460 valid postal votes in the constituency. The number of service voters in Naihati in 2016 was 531 (357 men and 174 women).

Naihati Assembly Election 2026: Poll Date

Voting for the West Bengal Assembly elections will be held in two phases on April 23 and April 29, 2026 for 294 seats. Polling for 152 seats will be held in the first phase and 142 seats in the second phase in the West Bengal Assembly elections. The voting in West Bengal's Naihati will take place on April 29, 2026.

The result for Naihati will be declared on May 4 (Monday), along with the other 293 constituencies in West Bengal. 

Naihati Assembly Election 2026 Candidates

The BJP has nominated Sumitro Chatterjee for the Naihati seat. The Indian National Congress (INC) has fielded Pradip Kumar Kundu, while the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has chosen Sanat Dey. The CPI(ML) has put forward Debajyoti Majumdar as its candidate.

Naihati Constituency 2021 and 2016 Winners (Candidates and Parties)

In the 2021 West Bengal Assembly Elections, Trinamool Congress candidate Partha Bhowmick won the Naihati seat with a margin of 18,855 votes. He polled 77,753 votes. Bhowmick defeated BJP candidate Falguni Patra, who got 58,898 votes. 

In the 2016 West Bengal Assembly Elections, Trinamool Congress candidate Partha Bhowmick won the Naihati seat with a margin of 28,628 votes. He polled 74,057 votes. CPM candidate Gargi Chatterjee got 45,429 votes and was the runner-up.

In 2021, the total number of valid votes polled in the Naihati Assembly constituency was 1,56,517. In 2016, the total number of valid votes polled in the Naihati Assembly elections was 1,46,483.
