The Supreme Court today allowed the Union Government to provide reservation in promotion for SC/ST employee as per law, till the issue is disposed off by the Constitution bench.
The premier, however, said the government could make special arrangements for jobs for the people with disabilities and the backward ethnic minority ones.
"The decision was taken to give one per cent reservation to Gurjars and other castes under the most backward category," said state Parliamentary Affairs Minister Rajendra Rathore.
Meeting a long-pending demand of Kapus, the government has included the community in the backward classes by creating a separate category 'F'.
Earlier, the state Assembly had passed a bill to raise the reservation for Other Backward Classes from 21 per cent to 26 per cent.
He defended his government's decision to introduce reservation in outsourced services and said those criticising it have "very little understanding" of the issue.
