Speaking to reporters on Saturday, he said a pediatric intensive care unit and a neonatal intensive care unit have already been established with trained staff, while the task force headed by him was ready to purchase equipment as and when required.
"We have started screening people coming in from Maharashtra, especially from Sindhudurg. We have started isolating those who have suspected symptoms. We are also setting up labs (on the border)," Sawant told reporters.
"Shops, including in panchayat and municipal markets, may open between 7 am to 3 pm. Marriage function with upto 50 persons have been permitted," he said on Twitter late in the evening.
The state government has held two "Tika Utsavs" in the past involving all panchayats and municipal councils.
CM Pramod Sawant, who chaired the task force meeting here, said experts from state-run Goa Medical College and Hospital would begin training 120 paediatricians and a large number of nurses from Monday.
With Cyclone Tauktae wreaking havoc in the coastal and surrounding Malnad districts of Karnataka, four deaths have been reported in the state so far, officials said on Sunday. According to a situation report by Karnataka State Disaster Management Authority officials Sunday morning, 73 villages, 17 taluks in seven districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Kodagu, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru and Hassan have been affected by the cyclone so far. Among the 73 villages affected, a maximum of 28 are from Udupi district.
