New Delhi: Virat Kohli who turns 27 today has been the most successful Team India's cricketer. He is now the skipper of the Test Team and is expected to take over the reins of the ODI and T20 as well once Dhoni call it a day. Virat is known for his aggressive style of playing and has achieved many records at the age of 27. The most recent being scoring his 23rd ODI century and becoming the second Indian cricketer to score maximum ODI centuries after the great Sachin Tendulkar

His team mates would love to gift their skipper a win against South Africa in the first test which also co incidentally starts on his 27th birthday.

Here is some of the other lesser known facts of Team India's batting sensation and the most prolific batsman of the current Indian Team:

Virat Kohli was the captain of Indian team that won the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup in 2008.

Virat made his India debut at the age of 19 (in ODIs) in August 2008. Only Indian to score a century on World Cup debut. He did so against Bangladesh by scoring 100* at Mirpur in February 2011.

 Only the second player to aggregate 1,000 ODI runs for four consecutive years (2011-2014) after Sourav Ganguly.

Became the first Indian captain to win an away bilateral ODI series 5-0 when he led a young Indian side against Zimbabwe in 2013.

Kohli's 52-ball hundred vs Australia at Jaipur in 2013 is the fastest ODI hundred by an Indian..

Reached the number one spot in the ICC rankings for ODI batsmen for the first time in 2013.
