The DC vs LSG clash could've turned out to be a low-scoring thriller but Stubbs and Rizvi blew the Super Giants away to help their team recover from 26/4 in the 142-run chase. During their partnership, Prince Yadav and Stubbs exchanged heated words and the video is going viral now.

Lucknow:

Delhi Capitals defeated Lucknow Super Giants comfortably in their opening game of the season at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on Wednesday. However, at one stage, LSG were the favourites to win the game as they had reduced the Capitals to 26/4 in the defence of 141 runs. They had their tail up at that stage as Prince Yadav accounted for a couple of wickets in the fifth over. Later in the same over, the fast bowler tried getting under Tristan Stubbs' skins and the two players ended up getting involved in a heated exchange.

Prince was in search of the third wicket in the over, and on the last delivery, he stared at the batter, who defended the length ball. Stubbs didn't hold back at this stage either as he stared back and also said something to the bowler. After that, Prince also exchanged a few words as things were heated up for some time in the middle.

Here's the video:

However, Prince Yadav failed to strike again in the innings to finish with figures of 2/20 in three overs. Also, the incident seemed to have pumped Stubbs up as he made sure to hang around in the middle, even as Sameer Rizvi took his chance. The duo added an unbeaten 119 runs for the fifth wicket to take the Delhi Capitals over the line.

Sameer Rizvi stars in the chase, but Stubbs also played an important role

Rizvi came in as an impact player to bat at number four and slammed an unbeaten 70 off 47 deliveries with five fours and four sixes to his name. After the match, he noted the importance of Stubbs staying with him at the non-striker's end while also revealing that it was the South African who calmed him down after coming out to bat with the team reeling at 26/4.

" I thought that I would play a little positive approach. But soon in the next over, two wickets fell, and the situation changed completely. So I tried to talk to Stubbs. He said, let's take a little time. There are a lot of overs left and the run rate is also down. We should respect the conditions, so we talked and decided that we would play our game," Rizvi said in the post-match presentation ceremony.
