Hyderabad, May 4: Yusuf Pathan, who has made a mark with his explosive batting, has also made an impression on his brother Irfan, who now wants to follow on his footsteps.
“I hope to do the same thing (power hitting) as well. The amount of entertainment Yusuf provides... I don't think anyone else can match. Some of the shots he plays are outstanding and if I can match that I would be more than happy,” Irfan told reporters here today on the sidelines of a promotional event.
The younger of the two Pathans said he hoped to replicate the performance of his brother, who made a quick-fire 47 against Deccan Chargers for Kolkata Knight Riders here last night to be named the Man of the Match.
“Hopefully my parents will also be praying for me, when I'm on the ground,” he said.
“I'm certainly looking for better performances from myself and its going to happen. There has been some improvement with my bowling and batting in the IPL matches so far and I will like to do more. The more balls I face and more balls I bowl in the matches I am going to get better and better.”
“If I keep playing well and do what I'm at best... performance will come,” the Delhi Daredevils players said adding that he wished to move ahead by taking one step at a time and not putting too much pressure on himself.
On tomorrow's match against hosts Deccan Chargers, Pathan said, the game would be an interesting contest and pointed out, “Deccan Chargers and we both haven't done that well. We want to make sure that we play really well against the Chargers.”
“Obviously, we haven't done well as a team so far in the IPL this season. There are still five more matches to go and if we play well in all these matches and win, we will still qualify and if that doesn't happen we still need to make sure that we are playing for our pride,” he added. PTI
