New Delhi: Test cricket has always had its share of obnoxious characters and unpleasant confrontations. An outbreak of ill feeling in Sydney five years ago, when the late Peter Roebuck wrote that Ricky Ponting had “turned a group of professional cricketers into a pack of wild dogs”, brought India close to cancelling a tour.


Last week's Brisbane Test turned particularly feral, to the point where it has provoked a backlash. A stream of anguished articles appeared this week, all calling for cricket to revert to the chivalry of yesteryear. The critics argue that most sledging is witless and degrading.  Here India TV brings five classic sledges.
