Robert's family did not like his decision to marry Priyanka. The relationship between father and son deteriorated after Robert's marriage. Things came to such a passé that Robert vadra issued a public statement in 2001 distancing himself completely from his father Rajendra Vadra who was alleged to have cheated people in the name of ensuring jobs in UP Congress Committee.
