Married at an early age of 14, Rabri was a usual homemaker. Born in Gopalganj district of Bihar, Rabri was not even able to complete her junior schooling. Comfortable speaking the Magahi language, Rabri could never lay her hands on much linguistic skills. So much so that she was not even able to sign or speak in Hindi initially.
