Defiant Giriraj stands by his 'All Modi critics to Pak' remark

Additional Chief Electoral Officer R Lakshmanan has said the EC might examine the matter before proceeding in it as per law and its regulations.

Condemning the BJP leader for his remarks, Congress today urged the EC to take suo motu cognisance of the matter and also take stringent action against him.

"Giriraj Singh's remarks deserves condemnation in the strongest words... The Election Commission must take note of it and take stringent action against him," senior Congress leader Satyavrat Chaturvedi told reporters here.

"It has been BJP's character to divide the country on the lines of caste and religion and Singh's remarks are consistent with the ideology he represents," Chaturvedi said during his maiden visit to Bihar as the AICC in charge of Congress state unit.

Lashing out at Singh, he asked whether people pursuing different religions would have to take certificate of nationalism from a person like the former (Singh).

Stating that the BJP leader required treatment for mental illness and he said Singh's comments were an insult to the people and aimed at influencing voters for a particular candidate or a party.

On Narendra Modi's "RSVP model" jibe at the Gandhi family members, Chaturvedi said he was unaware of such a model and that the Congress and the people were not in favour of the "RSS model".

On Modi's charge against Robert Vadra for minting money in the real estate sector without large investment, the Congress leader said the BJP's prime ministerial hopeful was a master in spreading propaganda against his rivals.

A party or alliance that takes support of Shiv Sena and MNS, had no right to seek votes of the people of Bihar as the two parties and their activists had insulted the migrant people, he alleged.

Claiming that the UPA government had given special package to the state and fast-tracked process for according special status, Chaturvedi said the initiative got stuck due to Nitish Kumar government's failure to remove legal and technical obstacles.
