RCB vs DC: The Delhi Capitals team on Sunday displayed a dominating show in their first match of the Women's Premier League 2023. Meg Lanning's Capitals thrashed Smriti Mandhana's Challengers as they registered a 60-run victory over them.

  • Shafali- Lanning's show- The Delhi Capitals side dominated the first innings. The duo of Shafali Verma and Meg Lanning were outstanding and notched a 162-run stand for the opening wicket. Shafali smashed 84, while Lanning scored 72 runs to set the platform right.

  • Rodrigues- Kapp brilliance- After the openers, Marizanne Kappa and Jemimah Rodrigues took the baton and did not let the momentum slip away. The duo sent bowlers out of the park and snitched a 60-run stand for the 4th wicket. Kapp got 39 off 17 balls and Rodrigues scored 22 off 15 balls to help DC go above 220.

The duo sent bowlers out of the park and snitched a 60-run stand for the 4th wicket. Kapp got 39 off 17 balls and Rodrigues scored 22 off 15 balls to help DC go above 220.

  • RCB's positive start- In the chase, Smriti Mandhana and Sophie Devine inspired a strong start. RCB were at 41/0 after 4 overs and looked to give a strong fight. By the end of 4 overs, Mandhana was at 27, while Devine was at 14.

  • Capsey and Norris show- Then came Norris and Capsey's show. Alice Capsey brought DC back into their defence with the wickets of Devine and Mandhana. Then Norris came after the 10th over. She scalped the wickets of Ellyse Perry, Disha Kasat, Richa Ghosh, Heather Knight and Kanika Ahuja.

  • Heather Knight and Megan Schutt's fight- In the latter stages of the chase, Heather Knight and Megan Schutt displayed some fight. They brought up a 54-run stand for the 8th wicket. Knight scored 34 in her 21 ball stay, whereas Schutt scored an unbeaten 30 from 19 balls. With the run rate swelling big, Knight fell to Norris. In the end, RCB lost the match by 60 runs.
