Many schools in Karnataka reopened on Monday (August 23) as the number of Covid-19 cases in the state saw a dip.
ANI tweeted-- Teachers of Vimla Kulkarni Memorial School situated in Hubli welcomed their students as schools reopen for classes 9-12 today in the state.
A student from the Vimla Kulkarni Memorial School told ANI, "Online classes are mentally draining & affects our eyes. I am excited to return to school where I can interact with my friends."
Karnataka CM Basavaraj S Bommai took to his Twitter handle and said, "With the resumption of the 9th, 10th and undergraduate classes in the state, the students of Nirmalarrani High School in Malleswaram today had a conversation with the students."
Schools all over India were shut last year to contain the spread of the Covid-19 virus. Many states have now decided to reopen schools now that the increase of coronavirus cases has decreased significantly.
Most schools in Karnataka have been reopened except for 5 districts where the Covid positivity rate is above or close to 2 percent-- Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Kodagu, Chikkamagaluru, and Hassan districts.
