New Delhi:  Shi Liliang, a monk who made headlines last year by running 118 metres on surface of a water reservoir, established a new personal best of 125 meters on last week.

He broke his own record on Aug 29.

Shi Liliang is a member of Buddist Quanzhou Shaolin Temple and it took him 3 attempts to break his previous record of 120 meters, set in Jannuary.

It requires him to move quickly and walk incredibly lightly to thrive.

The technique of outstretching his arms to balance his movements on 200 floating plywood plank enabled him to run on water for a full length of 125 meters.

Describing his technique to reporters, Shi Liliang said that the discipline is required to maintain both speed and patience, adding, "You need to be fast but you should take only small steps"

Behind the feat is the monotonous routine of monks who believe that the human strength purely depends on mind and there is no limit what can be accomplished with a human body once the mind is determined to achieve something.
