Islamabad: Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Friday that Pakistan's desire to maintain peace must not be misinterpreted as its weakness by India.

Nawaz Sharif was chairing the National Security Committee (NSC) meeting in Islamabad, attended by Army Chief Gen Raheel Sharif and other senior officials.

The meeting discussed the current situation on India-Pakistan border and also the ongoing Pak army operation Zarb-e-Azb going on in North Waziristan against Pak Taliban guerillas.

Official sources in Pakistan said, so far 12 persons have been killed on the Pakistani side of working boundary in Sialkot.

Pakistani army officials briefed the NSC about the losses incurred by Pakistan because of shelling from across the border.

The meeting was also attended by Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Rashid Mehmood, DG ISI Lt Gen Zaheerul Islam, Defence Minister Khawaja Mohammad Asif, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Information Minister Pervaiz Rasheed, and National Security Adviser Sartaj Aziz and other high security officials.
