Pak court orders release of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi chief who planned attack on Sri Lankan team

Lahore, Sept  12 : A local court has released the leader of banned militant organization Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, Malik Ishaq from Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore.  According to media reports, a session court has allowed his bail

Lahore, Sept  12 : A local court has released the leader of banned militant organization Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, Malik Ishaq from Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore.




 
According to media reports, a session court has allowed his bail to be set at  Rs 5 lakhs  and he was released  after his bail money was  deposited on Tuesday.

Malik Ishaq had been arrested at Lahore airport after returning to the country from Saudi Arabia.

He had been accused of making speeches with inflammatory statements due to which a court hand sent him to jail on judicial remand.

Ishaq was detained over a speech he made at a religious school on August 19 in the wake of a rise in sectarian violence between majority Sunni and minority Shia Muslims.

Lashkar-e-Jhangvi is regarded as the most extreme Sunni terror group in Pakistan and is accused of killing hundreds of Shias after its emergence in the early 1990.

.Earlier, on July 14, 2011, the apex court had granted bail to Ishaq in Sri Lankan cricket team attack case. He is said to be the mastermind of the attack
 
During the attack, six Sri Lankan players – including Captain Mahela Jayawaredene, his deputy Kumar Sangakkara, Ajantha Mendis, Thilan Samaraweera,

Tharanga Paranavitana and Chaminda Vaas – had sustained injuries. Six escorting policemen were also killed in the attack.
