Italian man turns dead son's ashes into diamond by spending Rs 11.14 lakhs

But still the father went ahead with the idea of creating something precious, indestructible, and beautiful out of such a tragic and terrible accident.

This is the first case of its kind in Italy that a father got his son's remain converted into diamond, so then he can keep him with the family forever.

The young son, killed in a car crash earlier this year, had already been buried in his hometown of Treviso, in northern Italy, when his 55-year-old dad came up with the idea.

Remembrance diamonds' are created by filtering and refining the carbon found in cremated ashes, then secured in a chamber, where intense pressure and a temperature similar to that of a volcano are applied, creating a synthetic diamond, ‘The Local' reported.

According to the reports the process of converting ashes into remembrance diamonds can cost as much as $18,000( Rs 11.14 lakhs).
