Washington: As the lawyer of the Indian diplomat Devyani Khobragade is seeking to postpone proceedings of her indictment on January 13, the US administration is busy taking out solutions to resolve the issue.
Three possible solutions have been worked out to resolve the problem.
The first being, giving full diplomatic immunity to Devyani, who was arrested on December 12 for making false declarations in a visa application of her maid Sangeeta Richard.
This can be done by accepting her identity papers to the UN before criminal charges are filed against her.
This option is preferable so as to not intensify US- India diplomatic ties.
The second possible solution to the issue is to accept the UN transfer of 39-year-old Khobragade only after she is criminally charged.
