Know about Malala Yousafzai, an epitome of courage

New Delhi: Malala Yousafzai, born on 12th July, 1997 has become the liberal, thinking world's pride. Born in Swat valley of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Pakistan, she has worked for women education rights immensely.Being the daughter of a school principal, she is an education activist. In early 2009, under the pseudonym Gul Makai, she began writing a diary about life under the Taliban for the BBC Urdu web site. It was an act of bravery as the swat region is dominated by the Taliban who imposed restrictions on women. The blog records Yousafzai's thoughts during the First Battle of Swat, as military operations take place, fewer girls show up to school, and finally, her school shuts down. On 9 October 2012, Yousafzai was shot in the head and neck in an assassination attempt by Taliban gunmen while returning home on a school bus.Ziauddin pushed Malala to speak her mind about the emancipation of girls and arranged for the platform that brought her to the world's attentionShe recovered after she was flown to Britain for surgery.The whole world prayed for her recovery. She had become an inspiration for everyone. Deutsche Welle wrote in January 2013 that Malala may have become "the most famous teenager in the world." United Nations Special Envoy for Global Education Gordon Brown launched a UN petition in Yousafzai's name, using the slogan "I am Malala" and demanding that all children worldwide be in school by the end of 2015 – a petition which helped lead to the ratification of Pakistan's first Right to Education Bill. In the 29 April 2013 issue of Time magazine, Yousafzai was featured on the magazine's front cover and as one of "The 100 Most Influential People in the World". She was the winner of Pakistan's first National Youth Peace Prize and was nominated for the 2013 Nobel Peace Prize (although Malala was widely tipped to win the prize.The decision not to reward Pakistani teen activist Malala Yousafzai with the Nobel Peace Prize was met with disappointment and derision across the world, but at least one group was pleased: The one that tried to kill her. The Pakistani Taliban spokes person called the decision "very good news" and praised the committee for "not selecting this immature girl for this famous award,”"If we get another chance, we will definitely kill her and that will make us feel proud," The group had applauded Nobel peace prize committee for not picking teen education activist Malala for the prize. The Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan has warned that those found selling “I am Malala” — the book authored by Malala Yousufzai — will face serious action as she had not performed any act of bravery but swapped her religion Islam with secularism for which she is being rewarded. The book is co-authored by a British journalist Christina Lamb. It is the memoir of a 16-year-old girl who is both a normal child – fighting with her brother, endlessly styling her hair, worrying that she'll never be tall enough – and, at the same time, possibly the most inspiring teenager in the world. The memoir, co-written with British journalist Christina Lamb, traces the journey of a girl born to a people, the Pashtun, who do not celebrate the birth of girls. Unlike usual Pashtun households, her father had always encouraged her to go to school and speak up for her rights. Despite the threats received from Taliban, banning her book to be sold and getting shot on head, this girl has never given up. She is now continuing her studies in Birmingham. Malala hopes to become a politician when she grows up. Her oratory skills, determination to do something for society and her bravery fulfill all the qualities of becoming a world leader.
