Vaghela declares assets worth Rs 41 crore

Ahmedabad:  Congress leader Shankarsinh Vaghela, who filed his nomination from Sabarkantha Lok Sabha seat today, has a total assets valued at over Rs 41 crore.  As per the affidavit submitted along with his nomination papers,

Ahmedabad:  Congress leader Shankarsinh Vaghela, who filed his nomination from Sabarkantha Lok Sabha seat today, has a total assets valued at over Rs 41 crore.  


As per the affidavit submitted along with his nomination papers, the former Chief Minister and his family have movable and immovable assets worth over Rs 41 crore.  

The Leader of Opposition in the Assembly has bank deposits and various policies of Rs 16.82 lakh and those in her wife's name stood at Rs 10.87 lakh.

The Congress leader has Rs 21,000 cash in hand and his wife Rs 11,000. The former Union Textile Minister owns a house in Gandhinagar valued at Rs 14.03 crore, while his wife has one in Mehasan which is worth over Rs 7 crore.  

According to the affidavit, Vaghela owns nine acre agriculture land in Pethapur village of Gandhinagar district, the value of which is Rs 6.05 crore. His wife also owns a piece of land there valued at Rs 50 lakh.  

The veteran politician owns 12 acre agriculture land in Kankus village, Mehasana district valued at Rs 6.20 crore. His wife also owns the same parcel of land in the village.  

Vaghela has inherited three acre farmland in Vasan village of Gandhinagar district worth Rs 72.57 lakh.  He has not shown any liability.

Vaghela, a multiple-time MP who was formerly with BJP, had lost the 2009 Parliamentary election from Godhra. He currently represents Kapadvanj constituency, Kheda district, in Gujarat Assembly.
