Chennai: Tamil Nadu Government has proposed to establish an authority for preservation of eco-sensitive and heritage areas, Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa said today.

‘Tamil Nadu Authority for Preservation of Eco Sensitive and Heritage Areas' would be set up and a draft bill would be presented during the coming Assembly session, she said in a statement here.

The authority, she said, would have complete rights to take steps in preserving such eco-sensitive and heritage places.

As a first step, steps would be taken up to maintain and preserve the famous Courtallam falls by enhancing infrastructure facilities.

Accordingly, sufficient lighting would be provided in the area, while transportation services between old Courtallam and main falls area would be set up, she said.

The Government would replace old buildings with new buildings and provide lodge facilites for tourists to stay.
