Last night, Padmapriya went to Sharavan grandmother's house where a heated argument broke out between the couple.
Sharavan, in a fit of rage, pushed her to the wall. When her mother intervened, he allegedly hit her and also Padmapriya on their heads with a rod, killing them on the spot, they said.
After the double murder, Sharavan surrendered before police at around 2 am yesterday.
A case under IPC Section 302 (murder) was registered against Sharavan, while his uncle Angamuthu was booked under Section 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence or giving false information to screen offender). Angamuthu has also been arrested.
