Guwahati: In a major breakthrough, six hardcore terrorists of Six United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) were apprehended by Goalpara based army troops Tuesday night.
The Indian Army also recovered six pistols and hand grenades from them.
Prior to Diwali this was a major operation thwarting attempts by militants to cause trouble during Diwali.
The ULFA, a banned outfit is a separatist group from Assam.
As per government sources ULFA, that gets shelter from China, has close links with the Islamic State of Iran and Syria (ISIS). With India facing threats from the IS, the Army is now vigilant and prepared to combat any fishy situation.
The Army Sunday gunned down two ULFA terrorists in a fierce encounter in Goalpara district of Assam.
