Mumbai: Bollywood superstar Salman Khan today formally joined Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ambitious ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan', aiming to build a clean India by October 2, 2019.
The actor, who is presently busy shooting for Sooraj Barjatya's upcoming film, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, in Karjat as well as a reality show in Lonavala, also nominated nine more people, including his fans, to join the campaign and hoped that the chain will continue.
The nine names are -- India TV chairman Rajat Sharma, Bollywood actor Aamir Khan, Wipro boss Azim Premji, ICICI Bank chief Chanda Kochhar, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, business tycoon Pradeep Dhoot, Tamil superstar Rajinikanth and Vineet Jain of Times of India.
“I started with Karjat yesterday. Yeh Dekho photo's. I nominate the following for Swachh Bharat campaign and request them to further nominate 9 more people. First, I nominate my fans on Facebook and followers on Twitter. Each one of us can make a difference. And I nominate Aamir Khan, Azim Premji, Chanda Kochhar, Omar Abdullah, Pradeep Dhoot, Rajat Sharma, Rajinikanth & Vineet Jain,” he said in series of twitter posts.
In one of the photograph which he posted on his twitter page showed him and others holding broom and sweeping a village ground in Karjat.
In another image, Khan can also be seen holding a painting brush in his right hand and white-washing a wall.
On October 2, Narendra Modi after launching the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' had roped in celebrities from across the country. He had nominated nine people including Khan to spread awareness on cleanliness and make it a people's movement. He had also asked these people to nominate nine more people to join the campaign and hoped the chain would continue.
