Ahmedabad: Bollywood heartthrob Salman Khan today made a cryptic but not so subtle remark saying "May the best man become PM", with Narendra Modi standing by his side.
After meeting Modi and flying kites with him at the International Kite Flying Festival here, Salman Khan replied to questions from reporters about whether he would support Modi.
"God should decide who is the best man. The best man for the country should become the PM. Good man mere saamne khade hain (good man is standing in front of me)", he said pointing towards Modi.
"I came to Gujarat nine years ago. Since then it has developed tremendously", he added.
Asked whether he thought Modi was the best man, Salman Khan said, "mere maanne, na maanne se kuchh nahin hota. Main Bombay ka hoon aur yahan apni film Jai HO promote karne aaya hoon (There is no question of my thinking this or that. I have come from Mumbai to promote my film Jai Ho).
"I will request all of you to vote for the best man in your constituency. In my constituency Bandra, the best persons whom I voted for are Baba Siddiqui and Priya Dutt", said Salman Khan.
Asked about the present state of the country, Salman Khan said, "All of us are worried. Everybody is worried."
Salman Khan admitted that his father (Salim Khan) had been frequently meeting "Modi Saab". "I hope we get along. I wish Modi Saab all the best in life".
The Bollywood actor tried to parry questions saying "I am from the film line. Because of my limited knowledge, I may get everything mixed up and that too on TV".
