Earlier, welcoming Salman Khan, Narendra Modi said, "Salman's joining the kite festival will fill new colour to Gujarat's efforts to promote tourism".
Modi congratulated the people of Assam, Tamil Nadu and Muslim community for the festivals of Bihu, Pongal and Id-e-Milaad. He said this year Makar Sankranti has become a festival of colours.
Earlier, Salman Khan called on Modi in Gandhingar and had a meeting with him.
The two then came to Ahmedabad and flew kites at the festival much to the delight of hundreds of onlookers. Modi looked quite excited flying a kite with Salman Khan.
Salman flying kites with Modi has set tongues wagging in political circles about the Bollywood star's attachment towards BJP.
There are speculations that the BJP may invite Salman Khan's father famous scriptwriter Salim Khan to contest from Gujarat in the Lok Sabha elections.
On Monday, Salman Khan had praised Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, saying "he is a good man and he has done good work, that's why he is winning elections".
Salman Khan was in Madhya Pradesh to promote his upcoming film Jai Ho.
In the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, Salman Khan had campaigned for Congress with the slogan "Jai Ho" to which BJP had countered with "Bhai Ho". BJP lost the 2009 elections badly.
