Jaipur: Rajasthan Cabinet yesterday cleared several proposals, including amendment in Rajasthan Land Revenue Act which will allow higher compensation and launch of a special programme for self defence training to school girls in the state.

A Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje here also gave approval for water projects in Dausa, Sawaimadhopur, Jaisalmer and recruitment of junior engineers in the Water Resources Department.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Rajendra Rathore told reporters after the meeting that the Cabinet has also passed a proposal regarding amendment in Section 25 (1) of Rajasthan Tenancy Act due to which a land owner will not have to change the land use for setting up solar, wind energy plants and the land can be given on lease for 30-40 years.

The decision will push wind and solar energy production in the state, he said.

The Cabinet also gave permission to introduce a bill to amend certain sections of Rajasthan Land Revenue Act which will have provision for more compensation as compared to the Central Act, he said.

Rathore said the Cabinet also approved a proposal for starting a special programme for giving self defence training to school girls from Class 6 to 10.

Under the programme, the Minister said, nearly 3 lakh girls will be given ten-day training in 1000 schools through a sports management company.

The pilot project will be launched in 20 schools in Jaipur district, he added.
