Ranchi: Jharkhand police are tight-lipped on the ongoing raids and detentions in connection with Patna bomb blasts and the recovery of explosives from a lodge in Ranchi, apparently on the instructions of officials of the National Investigation Agency after they held a meeting here.

Several senior IPS officers, who yesterday attended a meeting with the NIA officials including its ADG Sanjeev Kumar Singh, have been avoiding the media thereafter.  Assisted by the respective district police officers, the NIA, meanwhile, continued its search operations looking for new suspects in Hazaribagh and Ramgarh districts.

“Detentions and arrests are part of investigation, which has been taken up by the NIA. Our part is only to assist them,” ADGP (Special Branch) Rezi Dungdung said after the meeting day before yesterday.

“No,” another IPS officer said when asked whether there were any more arrests after the arrest of Ujjair Ahmad from Doranda here on October 30.

A Hazaribagh report quoting Superintendent of Police Manoj Kaushik said, “We have alerted all the police stations to keep close vigil over suspected elements.”

He, however, did not confirm any fresh arrests or detentions since yesterday, as reported in a section of media, in connection with the October 27 Patna blasts that left six killed and over 80 injured.
