Lucknow: Projects amounting to Rs.15,765 crore will be implemented in Uttar Pradesh for which memorandums of understanding (MoUs) were signed between the state government and various industrial houses Saturday.

Signed in the presence of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, the MoUs included setting up of a thermal power plant in Khurja and a paper mill in the Utelwa industrial area.

Yadav also handed over allotment letters to five industrial units and a technical institute. These companies will be investing Rs.15,765.70 crore in industrial projects in the state.

Around 29,000 new avenues of employment will be created with the establishment of these industrial units to be set up across sectors, including thermal power generation, cement, corn-starch, paper, rail coach and plastic technology education, a government spokesman said.

Of the total investment, Rs.10,270 crore will be invested in the thermal power project, Rs.1,540.70 crore in cement production units, Rs.3,700 crore in a paper mill, Rs.140 crore in milk processing, Rs.105 crore in a corn-starch production unit and Rs.10 crore in a plastic technology institute.

The chief minister also inaugurated a web facility - UP Industrial Grievance Redressal System - designed by Udyog Bandhu and aimed at facilitating the resolution of industrial units issues. All industrial projects, for which MoUs were signed or land allotment letters given, will be set up on land allotted by the Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Corporation.

Among other companies, Amul has also proposed to establish a milk processing and production unit on 30 acres of land in Karkhiyaon industrial area of Varanasi with an investment of Rs.140 crore. Amul also received the land allotment letter for this purpose. This will create 11,500 direct employment avenues.
