As hundreds of hawkers gathered outside the hospital on Friday evening demanding action against Dhoble, a stream of political leaders reached the scene to express sympathy.
Congress MP Priya Dutt, Congress MLA Kripa Shankar Singh, NCP MP Sanjay Patil and BJP Mumbai unit chief Raj Purohit visited the hospital.
Sensing the political fallout of the incident, the state Home Minister immediately ordered Dhoble's transfer out of Mumbai.
