Chandauli(UP): Manju Singh, the widow of CRPF jawan Dilip Singh Chauhan, is on indefinite fast since last four days and her health has started deteriorating.
The widow wants the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh Akhilesh Yadav to visit her home and offer floral respects to the martyr.
The district magistrate Shambhu Nath, SP Sharad Sachan, and the local MP and MLA had reached her home in Dumri Gaon carrying a cheque of Rs 20 lakh from the chief minister, but the widow refused to take the cheque and demanded that Akhilesh Yadav should personally come.
Hundreds of villagers have sat on a spontaneous dharna at the site, and political parties have jumped into the arena.
A BJP delegation met the widow on Monday carrying a message from party president Rajnath Singh. The widow is insisting that her indefinite fast would continue till the time the chief minister arrives.
CRPF jawan Dilip Singh chauhan was killed in a Maoist attack in Bijapur during a road clearing operation. Not a single official, MP or MLA from UP reached her home when the coffin carrying the body arrived.
