Mumbai: Additional Director General of Maharashtra Police Ranjit Kumar Sahay today succumbed to burn injuries in Bombay Hospital.
He was admitted to the hospital on September 15 after he suffered 80 pc critical burns.
Preliminary investigations showed Sahai set fire to himself because of depression, but police officials are tightlipped about the incident.
Police had recorded statements of his wife and other relatives.
A 1986 batch IPS officer, R K Sahay was 52 years old and had been shunted to the state police housing department.
