New Delhi: The country's premier institution, University of Delhi was established in 1922. In the initial years, there were only three colleges - St. Stephen's College founded in 1881, Hindu College founded in 1899 and Ramjas College founded in 1917. Eventually, other colleges sprang up and led to the formation of North Campus. Campus life is the most enthralling experience of every student, especially a Delhi University student.Let's explore the campus life of the prestigious Delhi University: 1. Rickshaws are the most common mode of transport for the students. Cheap and environment friendly, students use the transport frequently. 2. The canteen of Hansraj College is the most popular hangout for students. The college was founded by the D.A.V.College Managing Committee on July 26, 1948 in memory of educator Mahatama Hans Raj. Notable alumni of the college include Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan and filmmaker Anurag Kashyap. 3. The Maggie point aka ‘Tom uncle ki maggi', is yet another favourite hotspot for students. Walking down the road of Khalsa College, one can see a crowd of youngsters flocking at the Maggie point. This stall offers varieties of ‘Maggie' that students love and relish the most. Also, jaljeera and lime soda are famous too. 4. To explore the campus, one needs to walk miles, so students prefer taking bicycles on rent available at the ‘Vishwavidyalya Metro station'. 5. After enduring long queues and hours of waiting, a typical DU student gets used to these two. Like usual government official work, in every college, students have to wait for long hours for submitting exam forms, certificates and all the formalities. This is the unsaid rule! 6. The college fest season, that takes place in February, is the most spectacular to watch. The best festivals among the top notch colleges include SRCC's “Crossraods”, Miranda House's “Tempest” and I.P. College for women's “Shruti”. 7. Admission fever, this is the most critical season for the university. With thousands of applicants, every student wants to get into the best colleges. 8. Strikes, protests, rallies, mass uprising, this is DU's flavour. In a democracy, every person has the right to express opinion, this right is very well exercised in the campus. For every issue, the students and teachers voice their views through demonstrations, be it the FYUP, sexual harassment against women etc. 9. Hostels and paying guests: For outsiders coming from states all over the nation, hostel life is fun. While there are also paying guests in the nearby areas of Kamla Nagar and G.T.B Nagar. 10. For the budding politicians of India, elections are the exciting part of this place. The campaigning process is a must watch. No studies, no teachers on voting day.
