New Delhi: A Probationary Officer (PO) in a bank can be asked to work in various departments of the organization, including finance, marketing and IT. The post of probationary officer is the first step towards entering the banking cadre and nowadays many youngsters are applying for the post. The recruitment for Bank PO is done on the basis of an entrance test, that is, the Bank PO Exam.The PO exam paper is usually of 220-300 questions. Time allowed for the exam is 2-3 hours. The qualifying marks in each section is only about 40% of total marks in most of the exams. Even if you attempt 150 questions correct out of 200 questions you can expect a call for interview. What is important here is the accuracy; you need to solve those 150 questions correctly. You may find it hard to attempt 150 questions correctly in the initial stages of your preparation but as you start practising more and more you will definitely see improvement. The key to success is saving time in sections like General awareness, English, computer and to use the saved time in time consuming sections like Maths and Reasoning. Moreover the time of making circles black should also be taken care of as it can make a difference. You will take about 8-15 minutes for making 200 circles black. To save time here you should darken the circle at last all together, but make sure you have arranged sufficient time for this at end.To clear the Bank P.O. exam you will have to be expert in the following sections of syllabus:Reasoning AbilityQuantitative Aptitude/Numerical AbilityGeneral Awareness/Computer KnowledgeEnglish Language/Verbal AbilityBanking Awareness, Marketing Aptitude Special Tips for StudentsBelow mentioned are some important tips when deciding what chapter to study on any given day:* If you have enough time for the exam, pick a chapter you are weak in and one that is important from the exam standpoint.* Or if you do not have enough time, pick a chapter that you are comfortable, have not practiced enough and that is an important chapter.* Any day give priority to important chapters if you have not revised them or not practiced enough questions on them.* If exams are just approaching, leave out any new chapters because it will create a lot of stress and anyway you cannot master it enough for the exam.* Keep in mind important milestones coming up, like mock tests or school exams, festivals or family functions.
