In major administrative reshuffle, Centre shifts 16 top officials

New Delhi: The government on Friday carried out a major administrative reshuffle, making 16 senior level appointments and placing Sunil Arora as information and broadcasting secretary, Shaktikanta Das as economic affairs secretary and Hansmukh Adhia

New Delhi: The government on Friday carried out a major administrative reshuffle, making 16 senior level appointments and placing Sunil Arora as information and broadcasting secretary, Shaktikanta Das as economic affairs secretary and Hansmukh Adhia as revenue secretary.

According to appointments approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, Anjuly Chib Duggal was named secretary, Financial Services, in place of Adhia on his relinquishing charge of the post.

An official press release said Das, who was secretary revenue, will replace Rajiv Mehrishi who is retiring on August 31.

Tapan Ray, additional secretary in the Department of Electronics and Information Technology, has been appointed secretary, ministry of corporate affairs in place of Anjuly Chib Duggal on her relinquishing charge of the post.

J.S. Deepak, additional secretary in the department of commerce, has been appointed secretary, Department of Electronics and Information Technology, in place of Ram Sewak Sharma, who has been made chairperson of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India.

Vijay Shankar Madan, who was director general and mission director, Unique Identification Authority of India, has been appointed secretary, Department of Land Resources, in place of Vandana Kumari Jena, who has retired.

Vinod Zutshi, deputy election commissioner, has been appointed secretary of the tourism ministry in place of Lalit K. Panwar, who has retired.

Arora, who was secretary in the ministry of skill development and entrepreneurship, has been appointed information and broadcasting secretary, in place of Bimal Julka, who is retiring on August 31.

Other appointments made by the government include Rohit Nandan as secretary, ministry of skill development and entrepreneuship, Sanjay Kumar Srivastava as secretary, coordination and public grievances in the cabinet secretariat, Rajiv Yadav as secretary, Department of Sports, Girish Shankar as secretary, Department of Official Language, Pravir Kumar as secretary, Inter-State Council Secretariat, Amarendra Sinha as secretary, National Commission of Minorities and Raghav Chandra as chairman, National Highways Authority of India.
