The cabinet also approved the change of name of National Law University, Haryana to Dr B R Ambedkar National Law University, Sonipat.
The University will be state-funded and will be developed as a Centre of Excellence with objectives to organise advanced studies and research in all branches of law, the cabinet was informed.
The University is expected to act as a catalyst in accelerating the growth of Rajiv Gandhi Education City, Sonipat, an official release said.
