New Delhi: The Delhi High Court today sought response from a part-owner of the alleged disputed house in which former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal was expected to move into as tenant.

Justice V K Shali directed Narender Kumar Jain to file his response on the plea moved by his elder brother Virender Kumar Jain, who claims to have 50 per cent share in the property-No. 4-B, Flag Staff Road, Civil Lines, Delhi, where Kejriwal had planned to shift as a tenant.

Virender's counsel Girish Aggarwal during hearing of the plea, however, informed the court that Kejriwal has already made statement that he will not be moving to the house.

Aggarwal also said that since the court is already seized of the matter then how can he (Narender) give that property to someone. “Status quo order should be in place,” the counsel said.

On being asked by the court why the property was rented out, Narender's counsel refused to make any submission in that
regard and said he will say everything in his reply.  “Issue notice to Respondent 2 (Narender). Let him file reply by August 21,” the court said.

The court notice came on three different applications filed by Virender, of which one sought to restrain Kejriwal from moving into his new house as a tenant at posh Civil Lines area here.

The remaining two applications seek initiation of contempt and perjury actions against his younger brother for allegedly violating court orders, by renting out the premises to Kejriwal.

The applications had alleged that Narender had rented the premises to Kejriwal despite the High Court order of August 14, 2013 directing that status quo be maintained with respect to the property, till the adjudication of disputes.
