Jammu, Jun 7: Heavy firing took place between Indian and Pakistani soldiers in Mandi area of Poonch sector this afternoon, resulting in the death of a JCO in the Indian army, sources said.

Pakistani forces began firing from small firearms, followed by mortar fire at around 1:30 pm, and the Indian soldiers retaliated.

This is a fresh violation of ceasefire by Pakistan.  Normally, firing used to take place from Pakistan side at night time to facilitate infiltration of militants, but today's incident was in the daytime.
