Mumbai: The special MCOCA court here yesterday separated the trial of one of the accused in 2006 Aurangabad arms haul case, who allegedly escaped from the custody of West Bengal police last month.

“The court separated the trial of Sheikh Abdul Nayeem...trial of other accused will go on from tomorrow,” said Vaibhav Bhagade, special public prosecutor.

According to police, Nayeem jumped off Howrah-Mumbai mail between Kharsiya and Shakti railway stations in Chhattisgrah on August 25.

The case relates to seizure of RDX, AK-47 rifles and ammunition on Chandwad-Manmad highway near Aurangabad by Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad in May 2006.

Lashkar-e-Toaiba operative and a key plotter of Mumbai terror strikes Sayed Zabiuddin Ansari alias Abu Jundal is one of the accused in the case.
