61 year old maharashtrian granny wins marathon in saree

Baramati, Pune: A 61-year-old grandmother Latha Bhagwan Kare has surprised all athletes by winning Baramati marathon here. Latha Bhagwan Kare works as a farm labourer.


Over 9500 people participated in the race in four categories.

Kare won the senior citizen's category running 3 km and was awarded a cash prize of Rs 5000 and a certificate.

The most surprising thing was Kare ran the marathon in a traditional Maharashtrian saree and wearing no shoes.

Kare is a resident of Pimpli, about 7 km from Baramati, She originally belongs to Buldhana and migrated to Baramati for work.
