7 members of elite NSG commandos scale Mt. Everest | Watch the view from world's highest peak

Seven members of elite NSG Commandos led by Lt Col Jay Prakash Kumar successfully scaled Mount Everest the highest peak on earth on 16 May 2019 at 0705 hrs.

Seven NSG commandos scale Mount Everest

Seven members of elite NSG Commandos led by Lt Col Jay Prakash Kumar successfully scaled Mount Everest the highest peak on earth on 16 May 2019 at 0705 hrs.

NSG is an elite Special Force of the Country comprising of commandos from Indian Army and Central Armed Police Forces. This is the first such expedition of NSG to Mount Everest.  The aim of sending the NSG expedition team to Mount Everest is to instill deep sense of confidence and pride among the troops, develop a strong spirit of undertaking unknown challenges, develop leadership quality, mould positive attitude among the individuals and reinforce the motto of “SAHAS KI VIJAY”. 

The NSG Everest expedition team which comprised of 12 commandos from Indian Army and Central Armed Police Forces left New Delhi on 1st April 2019, out of which seven ( Lt Col Jay Prakash Kumar, AC-I Roshan Singh, AC-II Kunzang Namgail, R-I Tsewang Morup, R-II Tashi Stanba, R-II Ramanvir Singh, R-II Johny LT Mawia) had successfully reached the highest peak on earth. The team adopted the South Eastern approach via South Col in Solukhumbhu Region of Nepal to scale the Mount Everest.  Remaining five members are likely to summit on 22 May 2019 as scheduled. ​​​​​​

The idea to send NSG Commandos to Mount Everest was first conceived By S P Singh, the then DG NSG in 2017.
