Disgraced Dera Sacha Sauda head Gurmeet Ram Rahim's 'adopted daughter' Honeypreet has filed a bail petition in Panchkula court claiming she had no role in last year's violence.
The court is likely to pronounce its verdict on Honeypreet's bail plea on Thursday.
Honeypreet, in her petition, said that she has spent 245 days behind bars without committing any crime. Honeypreet, whose real name is Priyanka Taneja, pleaded that court that she should be granted bail as she was a woman.
Honeypreet's counsel Dhruv Gupta argued in the court that 15 others who were booked in connection with August, 2017 violence in Panchkula were granted bail by different courts.
Gupta added that there is no evidence of Honeypreet's involvement in the violence in which over 35 people were killed and more than 200 injured.
Honeypreet was arrested on October 3 after remaining fugitive for 38 days after the August 25, 2017 violence. She has been lodged in jail since October 23.
Ram Rahim was sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of over Rs 30 lakh for raping two of his disciples inside the Dera's sprawling ashram in Sirsa, Haryana.
His rape conviction led to violence in Panchkula and Sirsa in Haryana and other neighbouring states like Punjab, Delhi and Rajasthan.
