See what young India has to say about premarital sex!

Already knowing about the older India, we went onto a journey to explore the insights of the younger India. To know what & how young India would react to pre-marital sex, we conducted a survey on over 30 individuals between the age group of 20-30.

We sent them a quick questionnaire and the responses were surprising and equally shocking.

We admit and do not shy to share that around 25% of them didn't even respond. We could make out how astonished they were upon knowing that a girl was openly asking them questions about pre-marital sex.

According to Dr. Aruna Broota, "Individuals as young as 11 years old are excusing peer pressure to hide their one-moment of pleasure. They often put the blame on society for their changed personality."

She adds, "These days schools are so cautious of educating young minds about early-age sex and it's repercussions that they are introducing sex education classes for as small as class 3."

In the survey on being asked about whether they agree to pre-marital sex 90% of individuals responded with a yes, while others were strictly against it. The point here is not about convincing people to change their mindsets but to know why sexual preferences can't be an individual's birth right.

Sometimes we wonder why a woman's integrity and honour falls short when it comes to virginity. But the society believes it otherwise and it was quite surprising to know people who were strictly against pre-marital sex had totally different thing to say, Hrishita (name changed), a media professional said,"No, a girl's virginity can't be the parameter to judge her character."

80% of the respondents were okay with pre-marital sex and believed, 'If you love each other and then you can go ahead to strengthen that bond' but when it came to choosing between a virgin partner and the one with sexual past, not many were hesitant of choosing a virgin partner.

Dr Aruna Broota further explains why the younger generation is falling prey to impulse control disorder. "These young minds are ready to debate on any topic and hate when their parents, elders brush up such talks under the carpet."

We came across a 28 year old MNC professional, Maya (28) she is a mother of 3-year-old boy. Maya tells us that she usually changes the channels when any sexual content ad appears while she is watch TV with her child. But when we asked her about this survey we were shocked to know how easily she expressed her views on pre-marital sex and the choice of sexual rights of an individual.

Does this mean that we are vocal about such niche topics just to flaunt off our intellect but deep inside we abide by the incessant orthodox beliefs? Have thoughts about it? Share with us here!
