Bollywood's  two top heroines seem to be playing a game of ‘ revenge of the exes', telling all about their former beaus through characters they will portray on the screen, says a media report.

Katrina Kaif is playing a character strongly reminiscent of former boyfriend Salman Khan in her upcoming film, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan . Her role is that of a headstrong, selfopinionated, unpredictable and temperamental girl given to fits of rage.

In a surprising co- incidence, reports on Katrina's character in the Yash Raj Films venture, co- starring Imran Khan and Pakistani pop star Ali Zafar, come in the wake of Deepika Padukone hinting that her role in the forthcoming Break Ke Baad has shades of Ranbir Kapoor.

Deepika has said that her character in the Kunal Kohli- produced film is commitment- phobic and prefers to be in relationships without any obligation. Bollywood watchers feel those character traits are close to Deepika's one- time boyfriend Ranbir.

When most star couples break up, they don't even want a mention of their former flames in their presence. Katrina and Deepika, however, don't seem to mind cashing in on their experiences. Katrina has declared that playing her character was easy. No surprises there, considering she had been in a relationship with Salman for almost five years before they called it off.

The character is definitely far removed from the reserved person that Kat is known to be in real life, and outside the comfort zone of her screen image as a sweet glam doll. And even as she gets ready to unleash a female Salman on screen, Katrina sounded diplomatic while speaking of her ex- lover. “ I am still friends with Salman and he will always be an important person in my life,” she said recently.

Deepika, on the other hand, has hinted in numerous interviews that Ranbir's refusal to commit to their relationship was a problem. In the promos of the film, Deepika is seen telling her on- screen boyfriend, played by Imran Khan, that she wants a break from their relationship because it was getting too intense.

Cracks in the Ranbir- Deepika relationship appeared when Ranbir reportedly started getting too cozy with Katrina while shooting for Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani and Raajneeti last year. Producer Kohli has however denied any link between Deepika's character and Ranbir's real- life traits. “ All characters are fictional,” he claimed.
