Mumbai, Apr 13 : Director Zoya Akhtar, who has again teamed up with Katrina Kaif for ‘Bombay Talkies', feels the popular actress has come a long way and achieved every impossible things when she entered the film industry a decade ago.

Besides Hindi, the British-Indian actress and former model has also appeared in Telugu and Malayalam films.

“Katrina Kaif is somebody whose dream to become a big movie star in India was an impossible dream considering where she came from and what her life was.

“But that did not stop her. Dreams do come true... You just have to believe in yourself. She has achieved what was impossible for her to achieve,” Zoya told PTI.

Katrina made her acting debut in 2003 with Kaizad Gustad's ‘Boom'. Thereafter, she appeared in Ram Gopal Varma's ‘Sarkar', Salman Khan-starrer ‘Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya', among others.

She played memorable roles in hit films like ‘Race', ‘Partner', ‘Singh Is Kinng', ‘New York', ‘Rajneeti', ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara' and ‘Ek Tha Tiger'.

Zoya also cast Katrina in the lead in her 2011 slice-of-life film ‘Zindagi...'. She again showed faith in the and roped in for ‘Bombay Talkies', a short film which celebrates 100 years of Indian cinema.

The film release on May 3.

It revolves around a boy who dances to the tune of ‘Sheila ki Jawani' (the highly popular item song featuring Katrina in ‘Tees Maar Khan') all day and wishes to be like the actress.  The kid's craze for Katrina borders on obsession.

The story is said to be based on a real-life incident.  Zoya came across the boy a couple of years ago at a social get-together and wanted to portray it on celluloid ever since.

“When we were kids we used to dress up and dance. Even boys used to dress up like girls and dance,” said the filmmaker, who made her debut as director with ‘Luck By Chance' in 2009.

The film also stars ‘Chillar Party' child actor Naman Jain.

“I just loved this boy, he was fantastic. I saw him in ‘Chillar Party' and he was superb,” Zoya said.  ‘Bombay Talkies' is a collaborative project and it also features short movies made by Anurag Kashyap, Karan Johar and Dibakar Banerjee.

The idea for this short film, produced by Ashi Dua, came to Zoya sometime back.

“Reema Kagti (‘Talaash' director) and I had a short story and that time it was called ‘Zoom Zoom Darling'.

But, we couldn't make it. I made Ashi Dua read my story and said I will like to make this. She agreed. It all happened in a day.  It was brilliant,” Zoya said.

The project was further discussed during a dinner party at Kashyap's residence.
